Travertine Polishing

A dull travertine tile surface (even when its clean), is usually a certain indication that you should have it polished or honed and polished. If you’ve tried cleaning your tile surface and you have faced false hope when it’s wet, only to be let down once it’s dried, then you should look into other options that are available to you. A dull surface is usually a result of three things, and you should consider travertine polishing if you’re facing any of these occurrences:

1. Dried haze left behind from other cleaning solutions or grout residue from a flooring company

2. Etching from acidic drinks, bodily fluids, or cleaning solutions (acid based)

3. Years of hard usage, resulting in an actual dull surface

Hone and Polish – So there’s really only one surefire way to resolve a dull tile surface. Something almost no cleaning companies will tell you, is that there are cases where no amount of scrubbing will ever make a dull tile surface clean again. So with that, you may have no other option but to hone and polish the entire travertine floor, and bring it back up to a desired finish (whether that be high gloss, satin, or matte) using a rotary floor machine. It’s important that the floor machine is equipped with a driver pad and a series of honing and travertine polishing pads, as getting the desired level of polish is a multi-step process.
